Board Supervisor Election and Ballot Information

In each Maine county, the soil and water conservation district is governed by a board of five supervisors. Supervisors are elected to three-year terms in public elections held locally and monitored by the Department Of Agriculture, Conservation And Forestry. (DACF).

Supervisors are unpaid volunteer positions that dedicate their time and knowledge to the conservation of local natural resources. If you are interested in running for our board in our next election, please contact our office at 207-667-8663 or hcswcdinfo@hancockcountyswcd.org.

All candidates shall be at least eighteen years of age at the time of the official election and reside within the boundaries of Hancock County, Maine.

How it works

Voting can take place between November 23rd and December 12th 2025. There are 3 ways for Hancock County residents to vote:

1.) At the SWCD office between November 23rd and December 12th 2025, currently at 415 Water Street in Ellsworth. Open Monday from 9am-2pm and Friday 12-5pm.

2.) At our Local Working Group Meeting (LWG), which will take place on 12/15/25 from 6pm to 7:30 pm. at the Ellsworth Cooperative Extension Office, 63 Boggy Brook Road in Ellsworth. (In the event the government is still shutdown, we will still hold an election event without the LWG as that is held in partnership with the NRCS, a federal agency.)

3.) By requesting the ballot application and election ballot from the SWCD office at 415 Water Street, Ellsworth, ME 04605, by calling 207-667-8663, on our website (hancockcountyswcd.org), or by emailing hcswcdinfo@hancockcountyswcd.org. Absentee ballots must be received by the SWCD office by 12/15/25 at 1:00 pm. (Unless in person at the LWB on 12/15 from 6pm-7:30pm)

All ballots must be accompanied by a Voter Certification form, signed to confirm the voter is a resident of Hancock County.
