You’re invited to Hancock County SWCD’s 2025 Local Working Group
The Hancock County Soil and Water Conservation District (HCSWCD) and the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) would like your help in identifying natural resource priorities for local NRCS farm bill programs for budget year 2027. These programs provide local farmers, forest managers and other natural resource producers with federal funding to improve and protect natural resources on agricultural and forest land. Your input will help determine how federal farm bill funds are prioritized in Hancock County, and directly impact the resources available to local producers.

What is a Local Working Group?
Local Working Groups are community-based meetings hosted by Soil & Water Conservation Districts to identify natural resource priorities and guide how USDA programs are delivered at the local level. These sessions bring together farmers, landowners, foresters, partners, and community members to discuss conservation needs, resource concerns, and emerging challenges in our district. Your input helps shape NRCS funding priorities and ensures that federal conservation programs reflect real, on-the-ground needs here in Hancock County. All are welcome as your voice directly influences conservation decisions in our community.
